Work done to the Frisco 1630:

Jason removed, cleaned, lubricated and reinstalled the double check valve on the brake system.

Work done to the Shay:

Nigel, Collin, and Bill worked on the new tube sheet section, grinding the surfaces in prep for welding and final fitting in to the cut out space.

Work done to the UP 428:

Stu, Collin, Terry, Jim, Bill and Rick performed another hydro test of 428.  While the newly welded sleeve on the flexible stay bolt was finally water tight, other areas (mostly pipe junctions) were not so staunch and required further attention.

Stu, Bill, Jim, Matt, and Jeremy lapped the fitting ends of several pipes on 428 that were found to be leaking during the hydro.

Stu replaced the leaking plug in pipe elbow at check valve on the fireman’s side of 428.  Collin replaced the leaking plug in pipe elbow at check valve on the engineer’s side of 428.

Terry met the new welder on Tuesday (8/19) to oversee the leak fix on the 428 stay bolt. He also discussed, with the welder, the fabrication of the Shay’s front tube sheet replacement piece. He made three recommendations to help us produce the final part.  This was communicated to Tom and Nigel.

Terry repacked the valve stems on 428 engineer’s injector.
