Weekend Update for August 16, 2008

Work done to UP 428:

Bill, Ralph, Rick, Collin, Tom, and Jim worked on hydro testing the 428. The Staybolt sleeve has been welded again, but by a different welder. This time it worked. No major leaks. UP 428 appears to be ready for the next phase on it’s road back to operation. Tom said he wants to test fire the locomotive this Fall.

Work done to the Shay:

JD painted and lettered the cab and tender.

Nigel and Bill worked on the McCabe Flanger. The new tube sheet (the real one, no more test runs) was successfully flanged. See photos below.
